We can feel many things as we approach the holidays. We can feel excited, anxious, stressed, depressed, and anger. Sometimes we can feel like we are just going to lose it.
What do you do? You ground yourself.
You connect yourself back to Mother Earth, you ground your energy field.
Don't electricians install a grounding wire for safety? Isn't your body like a big circuit? Doesn't your brain fire off electrical impulses through out your body? Why wouldn't grounding make sense for you too?
When our energy is all over the place, so to speak, we can feel out of balance emotionally, physically and spiritually- it is all connected.
Remember the term "Down to Earth", how would you describe that kind of person? Easy going, laid back, peaceful, and lack of stress, they sound pretty grounded. So how do you ground? It's not complicated and there is not just one way to do it. Here are just few ways:
Earthing
Simply making a connection to Mother Earth with your bare feet. Stand or sit outside with your feet touching the ground.
Meditation
This doesn't have to be elaborate, it can be sitting in a quiet space, visualizing roots from your body connecting down deep into Mother Earth's Core, her Heart Center.
You can sit with a grounding stone at your Root Chakra.
You can hold a stone in your hand and repeat "I am grounded, I am centered, I am whole."
Find what feels comfortable to you.
Breathing
Do breathing exercises or just take a few long deep breaths and relax. You can do this also while holding a stone or placing it at your Root Chakra or between your feet.
What Stones should I use while Grounding?
Black stones are really good for grounding:
Black Obsidian
Black Tourmaline
Apache Tear
Black Onyx
Smokey Quartz
Smokey Quartz comes in a range of light to dark. The three stones to the far left in the picture are natural Smokey Quartz, You may come across some that are very black, they have most likely have been heat treated. I like to work with stones that are colored naturally, but you can work with heat treated ones if you choose.
If you would like to stay grounded I would recommend making a medicine bag, aka, Mojo bag, of stones to carry with you. This bag can also double as a protection bag.
